The Cleveland Browns presented the NFL Hispanic Heritage Leadership Award to Luis Cartagena, a business development specialist with the Cleveland MBDA Business Center on Sept. 21.
The NFL and the Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) have partnered for the fourth annual NFL Hispanic Heritage Leadership Awards during the 2014 celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. The awards recognize the contributions of Hispanic leaders in each NFL market.
The Browns honored Cartagena during the team’s “First and Ten Moment” at their Hispanic Heritage game against the Baltimore Ravens.
Cartagena was honored with the award for his active commitment with the Cleveland community, especially as it relates to minority and Latino business development. He is on the boards of the St. Luke’s Foundation, the Hispanic Roundtable and the Hispanic Business Center. He is also a member of Crain's Business Diversity Council and CMHA Audit Committee.
Each award recipient selected an organization of their choice that serves the local Hispanic community to receive a $2,000 donation.
Cartagena chose Esperanza, Inc. to receive this donation.
The NFL celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month during Weeks 3 and 4 of the season.
