The Abe Venable Legacy Award for Lifetime Achievement is presented to Dr. Leonard “Len” Greenhalgh, Faculty Director and Professor at Dartmouth College. Dr. Greenhalgh’s deep involvement in programs for minorities, Native Americans, and women – which ultimately became his life’s work – was motivated by seeing first-hand how minorities were treated during the social justice movement in the 1960s.

He began his career at the Tuck School at Dartmouth College in 1978 and his work in helping minority business began with Tuck’s inaugural program for minorities in 1980. As Director of Tuck's minority business initiative, Dr. Greenhalgh has grown it into the largest minority business program of its kind in the world.

Celebrating its 31st year, the program maximizes the potential of minority-owned businesses, and also improves the economic well-being of the communities that have large concentrations of minorities.  To date, the Tuck program boasts more than 5,000 graduates from all 50 states.

Dr. Greenhalgh continues to serve as The Tuck School’s Director of Programs for Minority- and Women-Owned Businesses, the Director of Native American Business Programs, as well as Professor of Management for Dartmouth College.  He is also highly committed to improving public policy, supplier diversity programs, and support organizations to maximize the success of traditionally disadvantaged businesses.
